I got a one and a half year old cat and he seems to be biting a lot more lately. It%26#039;s not out of malice (or else I%26#039;d be bleeding), but he does bite on weak points, like my bony ankles. I have tried some negative reinforcements, like smacking him on his thigh to let him know that it hurts. Spray bottle doesn%26#039;t work because my cat%26#039;s %26quot;special%26quot; (not really, I%26#039;m just saying he%26#039;s weird that way lol) and really couldn%26#039;t care any less about mist. So is he teething or is this just something that he does?
Do cats teeth like human infants?
He is not teething anymore- he should have all of his adult teeth by now.
And negative reinforcement does NOT WORK. Positive reinforcment does, however. So please try that. Tell him firmly %26#039;no!%26#039; when bites you, but praise him so (very!) much when he doesn%26#039;t bite. It will work so much better.
Spraying a deterrent on your ankles will most likely not work- you would need to wear it all the time!
It sounds like a behavior issue to me. Make sure he has plenty of outlets with which to play- including with you.
Reply:He%26#039;s playing. He thinks it%26#039;s fun because of your reaction.
I know it sounds crazy, but spay some bitter apple on your ankles. Cats hate it, and he will eventually forget about your ankles.
One of my cats started biting the tip of my nose while I was asleep. OUCH.
She seemed to think it was great fun.
Reply:they do, but not at that age. cats should have their adult teeth about 6 months of age. he might be having a dental problem, but he is definitely not teething
Reply:the cat is either playing with you or he telling you to stop touching him.
Reply:cats do teeth like humans and lose there baby teeth. just get him some chewy toys which he can play with however it just sounds like he is maturing more and trying to find his place in the pecking order of the house you just gotta stay on top and show him whos boss
